TAKcoin to release TAK Hub social media site, a “cross between Facebook and Reddit

The latest announcement around TAKcoin’s rebranding from TakeiCoin is that the developers will be launching a social media site, TAK Hub. The site will only accept advertisement payments in TAKcoin, as well as for premium account features.

The news was released on Reddit, where the official TAKcoin account called it “a social networking site, much like a cross between facebook and reddit. With a focus on human rights and world news”. They then listed six things to set TAK Hub apart from others:

  • When a person signs up they are automatically assigned “penpal’s” of sorts, based on their human rights interest. (LGBT, sex equality, race equality, etc.).
  • A Social site that focuses more on finding people based on ideas and posts as opposed to names and proximity.
  • The more active a conversation is, the higher they’re search ranking becomes. This part is similar to reddits upvote function.
  • Meeting people through active conversations is the focus. Finding the conversation first, before being able to go into someone’s profile.
  • A posted topic has to be “acknowledged” in order to become a conversation. Meaning, until a certain amount of people deem it something to interact about, it stays as an idea.
  • People’s accounts are tracked by the # of ideas and # of conversations. You can search both variables of a person but cannot search who they are following and who is following them.

Included in the announcement was another piece of news; TAKcoin has acquired the “@GayMarriage” username on Twitter, which has more than 21,000 followers. I’m keen to see how they go about introducing these people to the coin, if they even choose to do so directly — perhaps they just use it similarly to the way Facebook has its own currency.

The full announcement can be read on the TAKcoin subreddit. TAK Hub is expected to release later this year.
